I spent an extremely enjoyable few hours today at
Forman and Field the famous fish smokers on Fish Island in East London. They had an open day today with talks and Meet the Producer stalls. We were lucky enough to hear Lance Forman talks about the processes they follow and why their smoked salmon is superior to the cheaper supermarket offerings as well as how the business of H.Forman and Son was started by his family in 1905
We were also able to take a tour of the smokery and see fish being prepared. There is a restaurant on site which has does not only do fish dishes and is open from Thursday through to Sunday. Here are some pictures....
You may also notice that it sits directly opposite the Olympic Stadium on the banks of the River Lea.
